Course Description

This course provides an in-depth study of the rulings and evidences of the chapters of purification (ṭahārah) and prayer (ṣalāh) according the Shafi'i school of thought. It is designed for students seeking to establish a foundational understanding of fiqh in these critical areas, as well as for those looking to strengthen their knowledge of Shafi'i jurisprudence. This course offers an accessible yet comprehensive introduction to the fiqh of Imām al-Shāfiʿī, making it ideal for both beginners and those with prior exposure to the study of fiqh.

Learning Objectives

• Develop a thorough understanding of Shafi'i rulings and evidences for the chapters of ṣalāh and ṭahārah.

• Explore the history and development of the Shafi'i madhhab.

• Learn the practical application of purification and prayer within the Shafi'i framework, with references to majority opinions when relevant. 

• Appreciate the importance of madhhab adherence in fostering unity and clarity in the study and practice of Islam.

 Course Materials

This course is based on the al-Fiqh al-Manhaji book. Students are required to purchase their own copy of the book, as it is not included in the registration fees.
